HTML Entity Encoder/Decoder Guide
All About an HTML Entity
HTML entities are special character codes that safely represent reserved or hard-to-type characters in web documents. They begin with an ampersand (&) and end with a semicolon (;), and browsers interpret them as the corresponding character on screen. Beyond the common reserved characters like <, >, and &, entities also handle copyright symbols (©), currency signs (€), and many other characters not readily available on a standard keyboard. Using HTML entities correctly is essential for both proper page rendering and web security.
