What is a QR Code Scanner?
A QR code scanner is an online tool that reads and decodes data from QR codes. You can scan QR codes in real time using your webcam or smartphone camera, or upload an image containing a QR code to extract its data. It supports a wide range of QR code formats including URLs, plain text, contacts (vCard), WiFi credentials, and email addresses. No app installation is needed -- it works directly in your browser.
How It Works
The QR code scanner detects and decodes QR codes in real-time from camera streams. It accesses the camera via getUserMedia(), draws each frame to a Canvas to extract image data. Decoding libraries like jsQR detect finder patterns, apply perspective transformation, and read the encoded data.
