Screen Recorder Guide

Understanding the Screen Recorder

The Screen Recorder uses your browser's built-in Screen Capture API to record your screen and save it as a WEBM video file, all without installing any software. You can choose to capture your entire screen, a specific application window, or a single browser tab. An optional microphone toggle lets you narrate over the recording. It is ideal for creating software tutorials, attaching bug reproduction videos to reports, recording online meetings, or capturing lecture content on the fly.

Common Scenarios

Record screen in browser comes up in everyday situations: school assignments, work tasks, or quick checks during conversations with friends or family. Keeping a tool like this bookmarked saves time.

How It Works

Screen recording obtains a screen capture stream via navigator.mediaDevices.getDisplayMedia() and encodes video using the MediaRecorder API. Real-time encoding uses VP8/VP9 (WebM) or H.264 (MP4) codecs, collecting chunk data via ondataavailable events. After recording, chunks are combined into a Blob for download.
